  • WEBFLOW, AN GREAT ALTERNATIVE FOR WEB DESIGNERS?

A website builder is an online platform that allows anyone to create their own website, without having to use code. A few years back, traditional platforms like WordPress and Drupal were commonly used by web developers to build websites for clients. Although now, website builders like Wix, Weebly, Bubble, Squarespace and many others have opened web creation up to anyone and everyone.I have tried bubble before. But given Webflow’s clear credentials, I thought I’d take a look at it and see what all the fuss was about. As soon as you sign up to Webflow, the platform does a really good job of onboarding you. If you’re feeling confident, you can dive straight into the design process, but I’d recommend Webflow’s tutorial to any first-time users. Start from scratch, use a template, or learn how to edit with Webflow from scratch. Webflow Editor After you’ve completed your tutorial and picked a template or if you choose to start with blank page, you’ll enter the editor. Webflow’s editor just happens to look scarily similar to Adobe photoshop. Webflow’s editor has alot of design options, and is laid out similar to Photoshop And just like Photoshop, there are many design options to choose from. While web designers will feel like very easy to use, regular folk may well be intimidated. There’s a lot to take in, and even with the onboarding tutorial, it isn’t immediately obvious how to do a lot of things. As Webflow itself explains, though, it’s best to think of your website as a series of boxes. There is a series of creating a box for every element of your site and overlaying them on top of one another. Containers, Collections, Image boxes, text boxes, and button boxes all add up to form the layout of your site. Webflow lets you create boxes for every element of your website. Thinking of your website in this way makes it easier to visualize what you want, but the editing can still be tricky. If you’re new to website building, Id recommend to practice just the basics for couple of hours to get to a grip with Webflow before you start creating your own website. All of Webflow’s templates are responsive, meaning they automatically adapt to fit different screen sizes. Most website builders have responsive templates and let you preview their designs, but Webflow’s extended template descriptions are a nice touch. Premium templates range in price from $19 to $149. Webflow’s templates are generally well put together, and can hold their own against market leader Squarespace in terms of quality of design. They’re clean, responsive, and fully customizable. Features- ‍ 1. Build CSS grid–powered layouts visually The power of CSS grid in a completely visual canvas. We can Start building with grid in Webflow from ground up. 2. Add CSS filters to anything We can create beautiful effects by adding one or more of 8 CSS filters to any element of your Webflow websites inside the Designer. 3. Motion design 3D transforms and animations and Add a whole new dimension to your website designs with the first tool that lets you create 3D CSS transforms without writing code. 4. Design interactions without code Easily add complex interactions and animations to your site, without even looking at JavaScript. 5. CMS API The Webflow CMS REST API is open for business! Now you can add, update, and delete Items from Collections programmatically, right from your terminal. 6. Google Optimize integration Paste your Google Optimize container ID into the integrations section of your project settings to run A/B and multivariate tests on your pages with Google Optimize. 7. MailChimp integration Their MailChimp integration lets you automatically build your email subscription list. These are some of the features in webflow. You can visit features page for more indepth perspective. Conclusion- For first-timers, Webflow can appear to be a lot to take in and that makes you feel like it will be a long while before you can design and build high-quality websites in it with ease. But once you get an hang of this platform, it’s relatively easy to use compared to some other plaforrms. • First no-code tool ever

No-code is not a new phenomenon and this concept has existed for a long time. However, in recent years, a concoction of ubiquitous connectivity and our great incentive for productivity has fueled the expansion of the SaaS industry ad no-code tools like never before. The for software, coupled with advancements in technology and a growing desire to build independent, profitable businesses, has fueled the current no-code movement It all started in 1985 Microsoft released the first version of Excel in 1985 ( for Mac), followed by the Windows version in 1987. Even though Excel’s arch-enemy, Google Sheets, has marched past it in terms of adoption by embracing the cloud, Excel expertise is a sought-after skill, especially in the fields of financial and data analysis. It's still used by millions around the world. Excel’s power-users still use it for data manipulation, analyses, and visualization — all without writing a line of code. However, Excel is largely used offline as its online counterpart has limited functionality and doesn’t appeal to Excel nerds. Over the past couple of years, the rise of the no-code movement has started to change the landscape of tech. Ironically, Lamdba School itself is a product of the no-code movement, building its MVP (that has served 3,000 students) using a combination of tools such as Typeform, Airtable, and Retool. The no-code movement has also been called low code or visual development. The makers of no-code platforms are still discussing the best label for the movement but for now, I will stick with ‘no/low-code’. Which no-code have you used first?

  • Bubble's new responsive engine

Bubble’s new Responsive Engine is now in Beta! Bubble's Responsive Engine, the framework for how responsive web pages are built and rendered, has been re-designed from the ground up to provide a faster and more powerful way to build responsive layouts in Bubble. Upgrading your Page The new Responsive Engine [beta] is currently set at the page level. To opt-in, navigate to the desired page (new or existing) and click the “Upgrade responsive engine” button in the Responsive sub tab in the Design Tab. You now have access to the new responsive controls on this page! Upgrade to new responsive button Pages and reusable elements not yet upgraded will carry a blue upgrade icon in the page menu. 1. Property Editor The Property Editor has been updated to accommodate the new responsive controls. Most notably, a layout tab has been added to house the new responsive controls. The Property Editor is now the same across the UI Builder tab and Responsive tab, making it easier to continue building regardless of the tab you are in. 2. Appearance Controls related to the overall appearance of an element. This includes the data type, data source, styles, and transitions settings. 3. Layout Controls related to the overall layout of an element on the page. This includes the width, height, container layout type, page visibility, and margins. 4. Conditionals Conditionals allow you to control how page elements behave and appear under certain circumstances. This tab remains unchanged from before. Container Layouts The new Responsive Engine introduces 4 new container layout types that are available to any container element, including the page. These are Fixed, Align to Parent, Row, and Column. The responsive behavior of a page and its elements is now defined by the container layout type you choose. The container and its child elements will have different controls depending on the layout selected. Each container layout type has distinct behavior, so be sure to play around and choose the one that works best for your design. By manipulating the parent container and child element controls, as well as mixing and matching container layout types, you can now build almost any responsive layout imaginable!

  • How to add SEO on Bubble Pages

If your website/product is built on bubble, SEO is teh first thing you should add on the page. Why? Organic search results cover more digital real estate, appear more credible to searchers, and receive way more clicks than paid advertisements. For example, of all searches, only ~20% of people click on paid advertisements. SEO is also one of the only online marketing channels that, when set up correctly, can continue to pay dividends over time, ie it compounds and can reward us greatfully. If you provide a solid piece of content that deserves to rank for the right keywords, your traffic can grow over time, whereas advertising needs continuous funding to send traffic to your site. • How Andrew Wilkinson Started his Startup With Webflow

Andrew Wilkinson is the Co-founder of Tiny. He's been in the startup industry for quiet a while now. He has done an immense job with dribble too. Recently he started an startup known as Bcappraisalexperts. Lets find out what his startup does and how nocode has helped him launch this startup within weeks. Problem that he was trying to solve? ‍ In British Columbia (Canada) where Andrew lives—the government uses an algorithm to set property values each year: House with garden. The average house price in BC has jumped up to 3x in the past decade, so people are paying a LOT more property tax. This automated number is then used to calculate your annual property taxes. The number is usually roughly right but, but often it makes mistakes. Sometimes the algorithm doesn’t account for key facts and can be way off base and you can appeal the value by pointing them out: - Major repairs needed on your house - View impaired (bushes, trees in way) - Incorrect data (wrong # of rooms) etc ‍ Almost nobody realizes that they can appeal the value the government sets and the savings can be pretty massive. Typically thousands of dollars a year less in property tax, if successful. And it’s not a particularly complex process, just a pain to fill out and file annoying forms. Of course, nobody likes filling out forms and sometimes there’s a more complex legal process that complicated cases need to go through. ‍ Solution that he has offered? ‍ So, Andrew and his friend whipped up a Webflow site, hired some appraisers, and started a new business called BC Appraisal Experts where they can help people appeal their property taxes. They charge nothing upfront then take 70% of the first year’s savings as a fee. For Example: If they reduce your assessed house value by just $250,000 this will save the owner approximately $1,200 per year. Their fee in this case would be a one time payment of $840 (70% of $1,200). If their appeal gets rejected and the owner dosen’t save anything, they don't charge anything at all. And the Savings can be significant, ranging from $1,000-$10,000 per year depending on the size of the house. That's like a new car every year, extra money for a renovation, or even a family vacation. Here's the form that people need to fill first so that bcappraisal can contact them So in conclusion, this is another testament to the fact that you don’t need to have a technical background to start at startup. Proponents of no-code tools look forward to a bright future. Not only will they stimulate more businesses in the digital space. They have the potential to bring in ideas, perspectives and solutions from people outside of the formal tech sector, which is needed more than ever.

  • Why SEO is so important

SEO is important for business because it provides organizations with the visibility they need to attract customers during this digital era. More than 75% of customers will perform searches online before they make a purchase, so brands that do not have a strong online presence will find themselves falling behind the competition, so its very essential to have SEO configured properly. Before we begin lets see what exactly is SEO What is SEO? SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” It’s the practice of increasing both the quality and quantity of website traffic, as well as exposure to your brand, through non-paid ( known as "organic") search engine results. SEO is as much about people as it is about search engines themselves. It’s about understanding what people are searching for online, the answers they are seeking, the words they’re using, and the type of content they wish to consume. When searching for a service or product online, users are more likely to choose one of the top five suggestions that the search engine shows them. SEO helps you rank higher in search results and garner more visibility online, making potential customers more likely to click over to your site and convert. Why SEO is Important? The majority of online traffic is driven by search engines. (which in long term is not sustainable) Users trust search engines, and achieving a top spot in search engine rankings signals to searchers that your site is a credible source. The higher you rank in results pages, the more clicks and traffic your site will generate. SEO also improves user experience, making it more likely for customers to become repeat buyers. And SEO is cost-effective. Big corporations and funded startups can spend large amounts of money on paid traffic. If you’re working with a tight budget, SEO is a great way to drive qualified traffic to your site without directly paying for it. Have you deviced your SEO stratergy yet?

  • How Health Builder used No-code platform to create the largest booking site for Nutritionist

Being a startup, it is very essential to use your resources wisely. So using no-code tools can be very helpful to check if your MVP is working or your idea is validated. When we decided to make this site, we started with Wix But when we started getting some traction we realised Wix had a lot of restrictions compared to bubble or other no-code platforms. I have been using bubble for quite some time now. So it was easy to start with that. We choose bubble for these reasons- Bubble’s Features Responsive design (takes a lot of effort though) Easy customer-facing web platforms builder Drag and drop One-click hosting So considering these things we choose Bubble to build healthbuilder.in But they also admitted that it has been a challenge as well to make this site wrt to APIs and other stuff. But thet have learnt a lot about the long and amazing features of bubble as well as the whole no-code ecosystem. Ps- We also made an app on bubble as well— Link- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hopscotch.healthbuilder If you need a nutritionist or dietitian we have 1000+ Nutritionist to help you out :) Link- www.healthbuilder.in

  • Why I suggest Wix for total begineers in No-code space

Few years ago I started my journey in this No-code space with weebly. Although, it was a great platform, it just didn't had all the functialities that we needed. Fast forward to today, I have used Wix extensively for a lot of projects and recommend it to alot of people now too. Why Wix? The Drag and Drop Builder The intuitive drag and drop feature are great for both novice and advanced users (just like Squarespace, Weebly). If you’re someone who’s never created a website before, using wix would be an ideal choice since you need to just drag and drop strips, sections, without having to touch a line of code. This is also great for advanced users who are just trying to refresh the design of their website and they want to use Wix as a prop first. Template Directory Wix’s directory of templates is pretty extensive. You can easily filter the themes by categories. Blank templates have nothing on them and you will have to build everything from scratch with the drag and drop builder. Customer support and user guides Wix offers a high quality in customer support, whether over the phone, through forums, etc. If users have any problems or questions, they can post them in the forum and will receive a reply there. This forum is very active, helpful, and comprehensive. Make sure to check whether your question had been answered by the support staff before posing your question. Wix App Market Wix's app market is very extensive with over 280 apps to use on your Wix website. These apps allow for a better functionality of your site, using different tools and services. It offers tools by external services providers to you separately. Installing them is easy, since it just takes one click per app. The App Market includes apps such as live chat widgets by LiveChat and shopping carts by Shopify, SEO Tools. It also has other functional services, like newsletters, schedulers, reservation tools, social widgets (e.g. forums) or marketing tools (e.g. coupons). Most of these apps are free too. Responsiveness Every element that you drag and drop is responsive and you also have the mobile editor where you can edit the elements and adjust it according to your liking. Wix offers many marketing options as well. An integrated blog which is critical to have if you have an online presence, an integrated newsletter called a Shout Out, SEO Tools, a great ecommerce solution, the list goes on and on. Conclusion If you want a simple yet customizable website builder and would love to integrate certain 3rd party apps, Wix is the builder for you
